Love Handles: Purpose

October 6, 2025

Relationships are hard, love is messy, and comparison is everywhere. So what is God’s purpose for our relationships? In week one of Love Handles, we discover that every relationship we have is meant to reflect the love and grace of Jesus.

From Ephesians 5:1–2, we unpack two “love handles” you can grab today:
Imitate God’s love — start with your relationship with God, not with fixing people.

Imitate God’s sacrifice — prefer God’s best for others through forgiveness, service, and everyday grace.

You’ll learn:
*Why “be imitators of God” is the foundation for healthy, enduring relationships
*How focusing on God first brings you closer to each other
*Practical ways to practice sacrificial love at home, work, school, and with friends
*A simple heart check using 1 Corinthians 13:4–7

Try these next steps:
*Ask daily: How can I love them today? What would sacrificial love look like right now?
*Replace “love” with your name in 1 Corinthians 13:4–7 and invite God to grow you
*Pray John 13:34–35 over your closest relationships this week

Scripture: Ephesians 5:1–2, John 13:34–35, 1 Corinthians 13:4–7
