Ready Or Not | Acts 1:1-11
In this message, Adam Woods walks through Acts 1:1–11 and that “ready or not” moment when Jesus returns to the Father and hands the mission to His followers. The disciples had seen the cross, the empty tomb, and the risen Christ, but they still felt unprepared for what came next. Many of us feel the same tension—life is changing, faith feels overwhelming, and we’re not sure we’re ready.
Adam shows how Acts begins with good news: the work of Jesus didn’t end at the empty tomb; it continues through His church by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus tells His followers to wait for the promised Spirit because excitement is not the same as power—and apart from Him we can do nothing. Then He makes the mission unmistakably clear: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…” (Acts 1:8 NIV).
This message speaks to anyone walking into a new season, feeling pressure at work or at home, wrestling with doubt, or carrying a burden for someone far from God. It’s for people who are spiritually curious but unsure where to start, and for believers who want to live as everyday witnesses in their “Jerusalem”—their family, neighbors, coworkers, and friends. Adam makes it incredibly practical with “Your One”: one person you will pray for, invite, influence, and love toward Jesus this year.
If you’re not yet following Jesus, this message will help you see who He is, what He’s done, and why turning to Him in repentance and being baptized into Christ is the right next step when you’re ready. If you’re already a believer, you’ll be challenged to rely on the Holy Spirit, embrace the mission of Acts 1:8, and take one simple step toward Your One this week—because ready or not, Jesus has sent you.
