On Earth As It Is In Heaven: Teach Us To Pray

March 9, 2026

What Happens When We Pray “Your Kingdom Come”?

When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He didn’t start with our needs. He started with God’s name, God’s kingdom, and God’s will.

In this message from Luke 11:2, we discover that prayer is bigger than personal requests. When we pray “Your kingdom come… on earth as it is in heaven,” we are inviting God’s rule, healing, salvation, and restoration into the world around us.

Prayer moves us beyond ourselves and into intercession — praying for others and asking heaven’s reality to break into everyday life.

Jesus not only taught this kind of prayer — He lived it. From praying for His disciples in John 17 to interceding for humanity from the cross, Jesus modeled a life that continually brought people before the Father.

When we pray for the lost, the hurting, the addicted, the broken, or the far from God, we are asking the Lord to make what is true in heaven become true here.

Intercession is how heaven begins to touch earth.
